Congratulations, Leaa!
If you didn’t win, don’t fret! I will be having another contest soon!
Don’t forget — Sunday is the last day to enter the contest to win anything under $20 from my store!

Owl tape measure – $18
from feltmates
The cuteness. is. killing me.

Hostess apron -$27
from spicerakdesigns
How perfect a hostess apron is this?!

Knitware vases – $60
from alyssaettinger
I have been coveting a knit-print vase or mug for over a year now. These are gorgeous.

Vinyl wall phrases (set of eight) – $19
from TastySuite
I love, love the idea of having the outside of one’s door read “hello” and the inside read “good-bye.”

Deer headband – $32
from prettygoodthings
Yes, dear readers, I would absolutely wear this around the house and to the store. I’m either weird or extremely fabulous. Let’s pretend the latter — and who wouldn’t look fabulous in this?!

“Hello” necklace – $95

Squirrel & branch earrings – $46
both from Joannarutter
The cutest, sweetest jewelry I’ve seen in the longest time. It’s so friendly and cheerful, and I absolutely love it.

Black dress with ruffle collar – $945
from louiseblack
Would I wear this with the deer headband? Yes. Yes, I would.
I also discovered Operation Nice this week. The whole premise of the site and movement is to be nice. I’ve been told I’m too nice, and it’s true, but I’ve found that smiling when others are irritable towards you is the best way to live life. So next time you’re out and in a long line, or someone cuts you off in traffic, or a customer yells at you about something totally not your fault, just smile your way through it. You may want to punch yourself in the face initially and find yourself snarling through a grin, but if you remember that everyone is human and that being angry is just a waste of time, you’ll probably find yourself in a better place in life. Or just punching yourself over the cheesiness you exude, but it’s worth a shot, right? Hey, it’s working for me. (And I’ll post about my optimism experiment when I have a chance.)
Currently coveting:
- Most of the stuff from last week!
- Pink depression glass
- Ornate picture frames
- A birdcage veil
- Deer, squirrels, owls, and foxes
I started my new job today. In case you’ve not been counting, I was officially unemployed for nearly two years. Two years. TWO YEARS. One more time — TWO. FRICKIN’. YEARS. Luckily, I had not yet moved out as I had planned when I lost my last job, and thankfully I have wonderful relatives who have supported me financially and emotionally during this time. Unluckily, I have been blessed with a virtual Merck’s Manual’s worth of illnesses and medical conditions, and that crap costs money. Not to mention I lost my insurance when I turned 25. So lots of money.
I had sworn for awhile that I wouldn’t go back to retail. Aw, hail, no, I’d say at the mention of retail. But, honestly? I’m good at it. I’m good at registers and talking to people and organizing things until I nearly concuss myself from trying to make things exactly even and straight. It’s nice to be back somewhere I can indulge my loves of talking and anal retentiveness. I told The Guy last night, “You know how much I talk. Now imagine how much I talk WHEN SHIT GOES ON IN MY LIFE.” He has only known me while I’ve been unemployed and lazy. Poor guy doesn’t know what he’s in for.
So maybe I’ll have things to blog about, too? JOY!

His & Hers Savings Accounts – $8
from violet64
If I had a live-in boyfriend or husband, I would absolutely need one of these.

Melamine serving platter – $42
from junkculture
The only reason I’m posting this is because I know there’s no way I can afford it anytime soon. But it’s kind of my dream dish.

Reclaimed metal picture frames – $25
from CharlotteCramer
I’m all about ornate, over-the-top decor made modern.

70’s coat – $95
from TheLovelys
Whoever ends up with this is one lucky lady; it’s absolutely gorgeous.

Make Do & Mend print – $59
from boldandnoble
I spotted this a few days ago when I was having a bit of a hard time, and this has become my new motto. While the original message was about literal mending of one’s clothes (it was originally a British wartime poster), I think it’s equally as translatable as doing with what you have and healing yourself. I’m going to have to save up my pennies for this!

Cowl scarf - $65
from thehouseofhemp
This looks so incredibly cozy. I think I’d probably never take it off.

Counter clockwise from top left: Lacy Grove Canister ($24), Stacking Trinket Trio ($36), Lacy Grove Soap Dish ($12), Lacy Grove Tumbler ($12)
My purchases this week:

Deer figurine from elizabethwrenvintage
How adorable is this?! I’ve been a huge lover of woodland creatures and imagery since I was a little girl, and I decided recently to start collecting deer, owls, and foxes. This is the first piece of my collection, and I can’t stop looking at it. Plus the packaging it arrived in was so cute that I hated to open it.

Madden Girl Selestee Ruffle Pump – $39.95
These were my birthday present to myself. I’m in love…
I’m also currently coveting:
- A yellow rotary phone
- A hostess apron
- A full apron
- More woodland goodies!
- Anything mint-colored
- Old photographs
- Letterpressing
- Boots, sweaters, blazers, and new autumn clothes
- Fascinators and birdcage veils
- More vintage luggage (I’ll take pictures of mine once I get my new camera!)
- MY NEW CAMERA!
And I just got a job! Etsy-inflicted bankruptcy, here I come!
